Dams



Advantages (example of Egypt)
Disadvantages
-Water supplies are assured throughout the whole country, which is one of the most water-poor in the world.
-Instead of maintaining the natural fertility of the soil, is building up behind the Aswan Dam.
-Cultivated area of Egypt has doubled from 4 to 8 per cent.
-Farmers spend more on fertilizers to maintain crop yields.
-Farmers can grow 2 or 3 crops all year instead of just one.
-People are forced to move from land about to be flooded, the usually promise new homes and land.
-Crops are no longer at risk of flooding
-Promises are not kept.
-Electricity for home,factories and water pumps.
-New farm land is not as good quality as was their old land in valley.

4. The dam in Cerro Colorado is located in Argentina in the province of Neuquen. This dam function is to ensure the provision of water, the control of floods and the generation of electric power. This dam  had difficulty in  filtering and getting drinking water, currently the problem is not known.
